Gadget Show shows how important Viral Marketing can be

I was watching The Gadget Show on channel 5 this evening. They had a competition between 2 of the presenters to see who could become most famous on the net in 3 weeks. Now Suzi decided to use an Viral Marketing Agency called Tamba to create a game with which at the end if you complete it you get to see a video of Suzi taking some clothes off (don’t get excited you don’t see anything ;) ) and Jason decided to create a video of him doing some dance in London (see video here). The results after 3 weeks. The game and video got 200k+ views however the video of jason got 2million+ views. Pretty impressive, now imagine if the video had been for a product or a website imagine how much money it could have brought it.

I think the potential for turning videos and viral marketing is huge, something that I haven’t tapped into yet and hope to do soon.

The Gadget Show is a very cool program. I’ve also been thinking about what potential video has for affilate marketing and how I can use it. I’m not sure I’ve got the talent to become an internet superstar but hoping once I’ve put my creative hat on I’ll be able to come up with something!

Viral silly dance… sounds like a rip off of

    http://www.wherethehellismatt.com/

which gained sponsorship and millions of views… and is one of the most famous virals out there…

stripper game virals have been used (for several years) to promote beer amongst other things…

sounds like the researchers for that program were a bit short on ideas ;-)

I saw this episode - it was very good. Thought that the “sex sells” issue would have won it for Suzi but it goes to show that if something catches on it REALLY catches on hense the other guy won. Think it did help he got a break by getting on the “Featured Page” of YouTube though.

Not only did he get on the Youtube “featured page” he used word of mouth, his blog and he used the exact same key words whenever he linked to video which no doubt helped.
