Trouble Sleeping … ?

March 05, 08 by Max

The Sound Asleep Pillow Something that looks very interesting and could work/help me fall asleep. I do find it hard sometimes to fall asleep at night, things running through my mind, new ideas, changes I could be making.

The sound asleep pillow may be the answer, it plays music through the pillow so you don’t have to have earphones on, I was thinking it might be perfect to listen to a blog post from fraser

Plant Labels

February 28, 08 by Max

A quick post about someone I know off a forum I’m on which is related to business start ups. TimberTags is a company set up by Charlie. A 15 year old entrepreneur. He creates and sells wooden Plant Labels which can be personalised. These make perfect gifts for a keen gardener, to accompany a plant as a gift to someone, as a wedding gift and more.

The plant tags are environmentally friendly and look a lot better than plastic ones. To view the timber tags, order them and to find out more visit www.TimberTags.com today :) Charlie is an inspiration to many people who want to start a business and not necessarily online like I have but also offline.

So if your stuck for an idea for a gift for someone and want something a bit different, and also want to help a young entrepreneur who also donates part of profits to an eco charity then buy some wooden plant tags :)

It’s great to see people like this who have the ability to set it up and the idea behind it. I wish him and TimberTags the best of luck and look forward to what the future holds.

50p bet wins £1 million

February 23, 08 by Max

I rarely post about news articles, but this really grabbed my eye. I do a bit of betting myself, mainly on big premiership matches and the excitement of the win is a good buzz.

“  A punter in North Yorkshire has become the first betting shop millionaire after he placed a 50p bet on eight horses with odds of two million to one.

The man who will receive a £1m payout, placed his winning bet at William Hill bookmakers in Thirsk, North Yorkshire.

The betting shop said the winner was a regular customer and had placed similar bets almost on daily basis.

The first horse that won on Friday was called Isn’t That Lucky and the last winner was A Dream Come True.

‘Staggering bet’

The punter discovered he had won at 1200 GMT on Saturday when he went into another William Hill branch in Bedale, 15 miles (24km) away from the branch were he placed his 50p bet.

Graham Sharpe from the bookmakers said: “He placed five more 50p bets for Saturday’s racing, then asked staff to check his betting slip from the day before.

“When they told him he had £1m to come but would have to collect it from the Thirsk shop, he went visibly pale before saying that he would have to go and tell his wife.”

The customer, who has not been identified but lives in the local area, landed an eight-horse accumulator, which is bookmaker William Hill’s limit on the amount of races a punter can link bets on.

Mr Sharpe added: “Even a script writer couldn’t have dreamt this one up.

“It is a staggering bet, and earns him a place in history as the world’s first betting shop millionaire.”

From £6.75 a month to £2360.72 in 12 months !?

December 03, 07 by Max

September 2006 a site of mine made a profit of £6.75. Not much at all really enough for 2 pints at the local or 6 and 1/2 at the student union ;) . Anyway this was made by a site of mine mainly from Adsense and very small amount from affiliate commission. September 2007 and the site made £2360.72. Why are you telling me this? Well back in sept 06 I thought the site had reached its potential, there was no way it could make any more money really in my eyes. Then throughout the year I did a bit if tweaking, added some good content and dabbled in PPC and a bit of SEO. Luckily a few merchants opened that fitted perfectly in with the site. Traffic gradually rose and it turned into what profit it makes now.

So if you have a site making similar profits as mine did in 2006 then don’t forget about it, get tweaking with it, add content, get into search results, look for new merchants and hopefully see the sales rise and rise. Also even if you don’t think that the market your in can make much money you’ll be suprised. The few who know which this site is would never thought it would make this sort of money a month :)

Mobile Merchant Closure as bad as it seems for me ?

November 29, 07 by Max

After seeing the closure of a total of around 5 mobile phone merchants in a space of 3 days or so it was worrying for me as I actively promote the mobile sector. However I’ve seen a big increase in sales now to the bigger sites especially e2save which I made around 6 sales yesterday from when on average I normally only see 1 every 2 to 3 days. This hopefully means I might be able to hit some nice tiers this month. E2Saves current tiers are ·  · 25 sales plus = £31.50 per successful connection

·   20-24 sales = £29.00 per successful connection·

·   1-19 sales = £26.50 per successful connection· So hopefully I can try and hit the £31.50 per contract, however with validation rates around 50% it’s always hard to tell. Seen a similar move with Mobiles2YourDoor as well. This is all good as they all pay more than the merchants who closed down. So the closure which seemed pretty bad for me may not be as bad as I first thought. :D

Gadget Show shows how important Viral Marketing can be

November 27, 07 by Max

I was watching The Gadget Show on channel 5 this evening. They had a competition between 2 of the presenters to see who could become most famous on the net in 3 weeks. Now Suzi decided to use an Viral Marketing Agency called Tamba to create a game with which at the end if you complete it you get to see a video of Suzi taking some clothes off (don’t get excited you don’t see anything ;) ) and Jason decided to create a video of him doing some dance in London (see video here). The results after 3 weeks. The game and video got 200k+ views however the video of jason got 2million+ views. Pretty impressive, now imagine if the video had been for a product or a website imagine how much money it could have brought it.

I think the potential for turning videos and viral marketing is huge, something that I haven’t tapped into yet and hope to do soon.

Hopefully you can see this…
