Past couple of weeks

Friday, March 28th, 2008

Just a quick update, its been a while since I posted on the blog, theres no major reason why i’ve not posted but the usual one of me being busy is one of them. I’m aiming to post a lot more next week (fingers crossed).

 A few things

  • I’m potentially looking to do some partnerships with some other affiliates. So if your interested, maybe have an idea and want to do it in a partnership get in touch with me.
  • Google Adwords new url policy comes into action next month, Not allowing direct ppc to merchants I believe
  • Finally, Sunshine.co.uk are running an amazing competition to win a Apple Macbook Air … now these things are amazing. Whats more to enter all you have to do is put a link on a website for them. Only 150 entries so far so the odds are amazing, You can sign up to them through Affiliate Future.

An Interview with … Me

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

Just thought I’d direct you all to an interview with me that Kirsty did. She’s doing three interviews this week named “Meet the Real Affiliates” basically interviews with affiliates who aren’t the super affiliates that interviews normally take place with.

Today’s interview with me can be found here, and the interview with Ray can be found here.

Check out her blog it’s a great read, and has loads of useful tips. AffiliateStuff.co.uk

How to Make £20,000 + in 1 Night …

Monday, March 3rd, 2008

Making money offline using the below method can be easy… but might not be good in the long term

A week ago (sunday night) I as a student went to something called Carnage. Basically claims to be biggest student bar crawl in the UK. It costs £10 and for that you get a Tshirt and entry into Manchester’s M2 Night Club. Basically it involves a bar crawl to 5 big bars then to the club at the end of the night.

Now Carnage sold around 2200+ t-shirts when the capacity of the club at the end of the night was only 1600. So basic maths £20,000 in. Now the bars I’m pretty sure will have not charged as they would love all the people coming into there bar and spending money on “normal” priced drinks not student prices which pissed a lot of us off if not everyone. The club may have charged but I’m not sure as they charged normal prices as well.

Now if each tshirt costs say £1 which in bulk they would if not cheaper, then total cost of shirts £2200, hire of bars £0 , hire of club either £0 , or couple hundred probably. Sale of tshirts/tickets £22,000. Cost of staff £0 (all were volunters who got free entry) . Estimated Profit of the Night = £20,000 +

They do this is many large cities around the UK, Not a bad money making idea, the fact that hundreds didn’t get into the club at the end, the bars charged normal prices when us students expect cheaper and the organisation was very poor means it may not be a business that lasts a long time, As although I had a really good time, a lot of people didnt.

Change of Theme again

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

Very quick post, I’ve changed theme of the blog again, as Adsense didn’t accept me and so had big gaps in my blog, also was finding the colors a bit bland. So I’ve changed it to this one. Hope you all like it :)

p.s I’ve just got my blackberry from vodafone small business comp and its brill, sat nav on it and everything :)

My First Direct PPC Campaign Results !

Monday, February 11th, 2008

Well after about a week of a new direct to merchant PPC campaign the results are that it’s been a success.

Direct to merchant ppc, involves no site simply a PPC (pay per click) advert that’s destination url is your affiliate link and so goes straight to the merchant. (Note: Very few merchants allow this).

Anyway, They are worth a look in, I’m seeing a ROI of 40% which is ok and so will keep the campaign going and try to get the CPC down too :)

My plan for the next month or so is to try to find some more Direct to PPC merchants, and create a few more niche sites too :)

I’m a Winner again :)

Well Amsterdam was brill, had a fantastic time and wish I was back there. Good news I made it back in one piece :)

I’d tell you more, but what happens in Dam stays in Dam

Anyway got an email today from Affiliate Window saying Congratulations… (maybe i’ve been accepted for a programme I think) but nope I’ve won the vodafone small business competition, which is great and means I’ve going to get my hands on the following gadget. Which beats my current phone hands down ;)

Thanks to Affiliate Window and Vodafone Small Business

Half my Affiliate Window Present…

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

Well I’ve just ordered half my affiliate window christmas present. As many know they ran a competition to collect coins which on xmas day you could exchange for gifts. I was lucky enough to get a 26″ LCD HD Ready Tv. Brilliant prize, however as a student who doesn’t get any tv signal in his uni room it was a gift that wasn’t the most appropriate for me. Foretunately Dixons and AW were happy to exchange it for a voucher code to the value of £370 (Thanks Julia) :D , split into two. One £170 and one for £200. I’ve now used the £170 and bought the following.

 and

So a big thanks to both of them again. Also any ideas what to spend the £200 code left on ? Considering maybe a new camera and digital photo frame. :)

How 7 Minutes Can and Has Cost me £700

Wednesday, January 9th, 2008

Simply put “Check your websites daily, check they are up, check the links, and check your commission and ppc budget” It’s a dangerous thing when something goes wrong and you don’t. A had noticed a decline in sales from a certain sector, and I just presumed that it would bounce back as it has done various times before. I didn’t pay too much attention to it, nor did I log into my adwords account much at all in a week…big mistake. I finally did yesterday to find that my spend for the past 7 days had been £866ish. That’s ok nothing abnormal, but then I did a total for past 7 days on Affmeter (checks all your commission at once) to see that the totals brought in for the site in question was only about £200. This means i’m down about £700. This wasn’t right and after checking stats I found the reason. The links from the site went to the merchants as normal, but the merchants had removed all the products that my visitors were looking for. :( If I had checked the site and links which would’ve taken less than a minute a day I could have saved £700 . Now I think I’ve learnt a valuable lesson ;)
